In 2019, Ester played in four games as a true freshman for the Huskies before taking over as a starter in 2020. He started 43 games and recorded 121 tackles, 20 tackles-for-loss, nine sacks, one interception, seven passes defensed, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and a blocked kick for the Huskies.
