HOT NEWS: Packers fans will have a good laugh at the latest embarrassing Aaron Rodgers report

Miami Dolphins v New York Jets

It’s not like you really needed another reason to laugh at Aaron Rodgers, but we’ve got one for you anyways!

The former Jets (and, sigh, fine, I guess Packers) quarterback is currently looking for a new team/waiting for the Rams to trade Matt Stafford, but in the meantime, some, uh, not so savory details about his exit from the Jets are leaking in the exact way you’d expect from the New York Jets.

Ever since Aaron Glenn took over a few weeks back, everyone had been speculating on what the team’s plan for Rodgers was. He played well(ish) over the last six weeks of the season, but he’s also 41 and, you know, a lot.

It didn’t take long for both Glenn and the team to make it clear that Rodgers wasn’t in their plans, and as it turns out, the former Lions’ defensive coordinator wasn’t alone in that line of thinking. According to The Athletic’s Senior NFL Writer Dianna Russini, *none* of the coaches that the Jets interviewed wanted anything to do with Rodgers.

Sure sounds like no one wants to coach Aaron Rodgers after all

“Most of the candidates that interviewed for this head coaching job with the New York Jets were asked the question directly from Woody: ‘Do you think we should stick with Aaron Rodgers?'” Russini said. “So there was a time that they considered it and everybody said the same thing: ‘No, no. You guys need to turn the page on him.’ So while this new regime believed in it, almost every single candidate that interviewed for the job had the same sentiment. And I can tell you, around the league, nobody’s going, ‘Why would the Jets let him walk?'”

I guess we should lightly commend the Jets for even asking the question? It’d be very on-brand of them to just run it back for a third straight year thinking things would be different this time around.

Otherwise, oof. I get how easy it is to have no interest in attaching what’s, realistically, one of your very few shots at being an NFL coach to a guy who’s maybe got nine months of pro football left, but this is still a rough look for our ol’ friend Aaron.

He’ll find a team if he really wants to (sigh), but you know things aren’t going well when even the Jets have no interest in you.
