The Drake Maye era didn’t start as planned for the New England Patriots in 2024.

Jerod Mayo wasn’t the answer as head coach for this team, and the Patriots weren’t able to get into much of a groove last season.

As they enter Year 2 of Maye under center, the Patriots are looking to make some big moves to hopefully get back on the winning side of history.

Adding new skill-position players for Maye could be a great start, and Patriots analyst Greg Bedard recently pledged his support for the team to go out and acquire Cooper Kupp.

“I want his smarts, his leadership. It depends on the contract, on how much he gets, but at his age, I know he declined at the end of last season, but to me, just having Cooper Kupp for an offseason and training camp and into the season, that’s worth it for me,” Bedard said.

Should the Patriots look to acquire Cooper Kupp? @GregABedard says YES!

Kupp is currently disgruntled with the Los Angeles Rams, who have indicated that they’d like to trade him, even though Kupp has been loyal to the team since he came into the league.

He didn’t necessarily want out, but now that the Rams have put their feet in the sand, there’s not much he can do.

The Patriots could certainly use his leadership, especially with Maye still needing time to grow and develop as an NFL passer.

As Bedard mentioned, if the money is right, there’s no reason why the Patriots shouldn’t go after him and add a veteran presence to the locker room.
