Report: Steelers not moving on from offensive line coach Pat Meyer

This is a decision that makes no sense

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made almost zero changes to their coaching staff this offseason. The only change that has come is from position coaches like Aaron Curry accepting jobs elsewhere, as he is now part of Aaron Glenn’s staff with the New York Jets, or letting contracts expire like secondary coach Grady Brown. And a report from Mike DeFabo of The Athletic says to not expect a change fans have been clamoring for, as Pat Meyer will remain the offensive line coach.

“The Steelers knew [Broderick] Jones was raw when they drafted him, considering he made just 22 starts at Georgia,” DeFabo writes. “But by picking Jones 14th, they were trusting offensive line coach Pat Meyer to take a player with tremendous physical gifts and help him reach his potential. It hasn’t happened yet… I would have looked at all of this and moved on from Meyer, but the Steelers decided otherwise.”

Mike Tomlin continues to give empty promises of change, when in reality he continues to build poor coaching staffs filled with coaches that have had little success elsewhere.
