COMING SOON: NFL Insider Predicts Patriots Are Primed to Land Top WR Free Agent

After a disastrous 2024 NFL season, the New England Patriots appear to be preparing to add to their talent-starved roster, with the wide receiver room being their first course of action.

While 2024 largely spelled doom for the Patriots, the emergence of quarterback Drake Maye was a welcome sight.

Despite having little help on the offensive side of the ball, Maye was impressive, showing flashes of brilliance in a season that saw him throw for 2,276 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

Maye also displayed his lethal ability as a rusher, gaining 421 yards and adding another two rushing touchdowns to his total. All things considered, Maye had an auspicious rookie season, leading many to believe the Patriots have finally found their successor to Tom Brady.

Luckily for Patriots fans, it looks like owner Robert Kraft and the front office are ready to bring in some shiny new weapons to support their franchise quarterback.

According to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, the Patriots are primed to go after the top receiver in the 2025 free-agent class, Tee Higgins.

“Multiple executives I spoke with predicted Higgins will land at least $30 million per season. ‘I think he’s going to New England,’ the first GM said. Patriots owner Robert Kraft ‘took a lot of criticism for not spending any money, rightfully so, and I hear they really want this guy.'”

Higgins would be a true free-agent splash for Maye and the Patriots, recording 73 catches for 911 yards and an impressive 10 touchdowns during his 2024 campaign with the Cincinnati Bengals.

The 26-year-old would be a bona fide No. 1 receiver for the Patriots, helping round out an improved receiver room featuring Demario “Pop” Douglas and Kayshon Boutte, two wideouts who showed flashes in an anemic 2024 offense. Patriots fans will have to hope that Kraft can negotiate this deal.

Bringing in a wide receiver of Higgins’ quality would help accelerate the Patriots’ rebuild under new head coach Mike Vrabel.
