Trade Breaking: Green Bay Packers Urged to Sign Chicago Bears 6x Pro Bowler to Help Jordan Love

The Green Bay Packers have several roster questions that they need to answer this offseason. Indeed, multiple upgrades are needed at several positions before they can truly be considered Super Bowl contenders.

And while most of these are on defense, it is the primary offensive need that is going to be the talk of the offseason until it gets solved.

Of course, this refers to the wide receiver position. Christian Watson will be out for most, if not all, of the 2025 NFL season after tearing his ACL in Week 18.

Even if he was healthy, though, the Packers wide receivers were disappointing in 2024, leading many to identify the position as one of general manager Brian Gutekunst‘s top priorities this offseason.

Even Green Bay Packers Running Back Josh Jacobs Wants the Team to Add a Veteran Wide Receiver

In the days leading up to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans last week, Packers running back Josh Jacobs made several guest appearances on various shows and podcasts.

Multiple times, he stated that he is of the belief that Green Bay needs a veteran wide receiver in addition to the players they currently have at the position.

To be fair, he also said that he loves the wide receivers that they currently have, but that he thinks “we need a guy that’s proven to be a number one wide receiver already.”

And while none of Green Bay’s current wide receivers had what one might label a bad season, the fact of the matter is that Jayden Reed had a drop percentage of 12.0%; Romeo Doubs had one of 9.7%; and Dontayvion Wicks had one of 11.8%.

Indeed, their most reliable pass catcher in terms of not dropping passes was Watson, who had a drop percentage of just 3.8%. And is out for most of next season.

The Green Bay Packers Could Target Chicago Bears Wide Receiver Keenan Allen in Free Agency

While Tee Higgins and Davante Adams are the players that most Packers fans want to come to Green Bay as Jordan Love‘s top receiving threat, Maurice Moton of Bleacher Report believes Chicago Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen, a six-time Pro Bowler with the Los Angeles Chargers, could be a good option as well:

“Allen isn’t a receiver who stretches defenses vertically with long speed, but his inside-outside versatility would allow him to fill a void in the passing game.

“The Packers probably wouldn’t have to pay a high premium to sign Allen because of his age. They can add a ready playmaker at a decent value rate. A reliable veteran wideout could be what Love needs to finish more drives in the red zone.”

Whether or not Green Bay is interested in signing a 33-year-old wide receiver is a matter of debate. However, should they choose to target Allen, he would make sense from a price and length-of-contract perspective.

His current market value is just two years and $11.1 million per year, a salary the Packers would have no issues being able to fit onto their salary cap.

Last season, Allen had 70 receptions for 744 yards and seven touchdowns on a very bad Bears team. If he does not lose much of a step this year, he could be even more productive in a better offense.
