SHOCKING!! Packers’ Davante Adams dream turns into a nightmare after latest rumor

New York Jets v Jacksonville Jaguars

Davante Adams returning to the Green Bay Packers makes all the sense in the world.

Winning a Super Bowl with the New York Jets? Yeah, that’s not happening. The Jets can save almost $30 million in cap space by releasing Adams, who could choose his next destination to chase a championship.

The Packers have one of the most talented young rosters in the league. Adding a few veterans, especially an experienced receiver, could launch this team into the Super Bowl stratosphere.

Adams has spoken highly of the Packers this offseason and basically described himself when discussing their biggest offseason need. He said they “need some receiver help” before adding, “Maybe a veteran.” He has dropped several hints since, including posting an image of his green and gold shoes.

A Packers-Adams reunion is the dream scenario, right? Well, the potential reality is more of a nightmare.

Ian Rapoport provides concerning details on Davante Adams’ potential landing spot

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Jets are moving on from Aaron Rodgers, and Adams is also “likely” gone.

The Packers needed that domino to fall, as Rodgers’ departure opens the door for Adams’ return. However, Rapoport added, “Adams would like to be on the West Coast.”

Well, that changes things significantly and places three teams under the spotlight: the Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Rams, and San Francisco 49ers.

Adams heading to the Chargers would be harmless enough, but a switch from the Jets to the Rams or Niners? No, thank you. Outside of Adams playing for a division rival, that’s about the worst scenario imaginable.

The Rams came close to beating the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Divisional Round and finished the regular season on a 9-3 stretch.

They will likely move on from Cooper Kupp, but pairing Adams with Puka Nacua would make the NFC even more challenging.

San Francisco failed to reach the playoffs this season, but history tells us that Kyle Shanahan’s teams don’t stay down for long. Since 2019, the 49ers have just two playoff-less seasons and have made at least the NFC Championship Game in the other four.

Adams joining Shanahan’s offense would be unfair.

The Packers have a chance to close the gap to the Eagles and Detroit Lions in the NFC this offseason, but they can’t ignore other competition emerging. The Rams and 49ers could become serious Super Bowl contenders in 2025.

Either team signing Adams wouldn’t just take a top target away from the Packers, but it would also make the path through the NFC even more challenging.
