Cooper Kupp reportedly is on the trading block, and the Patriots could be in the market for the star wide receiver.
The Los Angeles Rams are seeking to move on from Cooper Kupp’s contract, but the $20 million he’s expected to make in 2025 complicates a trade deal. New England has the cap space to take on the contract. However, the 31-year-old’s declining production could be a concern.
That shouldn’t deter the Patriots, according to one executive.
“As one AFC exec said, the Patriots would be ‘foolish’ not to entertain a deal, given their receiver situation,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler wrote in a column Saturday.
That’s a blunt assessment from that executive. However, it’s one that Patriots fans won’t disagree with. Kupp is still a quarterback’s best friend and would benefit Drake Maye in his sophomore season.
Kendrick Bourne is already trying to convince his former college teammate to come to Foxboro, Mass., so he’d be welcomed with open arms.
New England would need to come up with a trade package, but the attitude shift with Mike Vrabel at the helm could mean the Patriots won’t want to look “foolish” this offseason.
