Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers will always be synonymous with one another. Even with him joining the New York Jets, the massive amount of ties to Green Bay (both players and coaches) was shocking. However, heading into 2025, Rodgers may lose one of the best players on his team.
“He’s Out” Aaron Rodgers’ Antics May Have Paved The Way For Packers New #1 WR
According to multiple sources:
Over the past two off-seasons, the reports out of New York have been up and down, to say the least.
Now, one star teammate is reportedly done with the entire situation and would like a fresh start.
Multiple sources on Twitter are referencing the same trending report:
Many insiders believes #Jets star WR Garrett Wilson will request a trade out of New York, mainly due to the team’s constant turnover at QB and Head Coach, per James Palmer.
A restructured three-year extension contract worth $112.5 million was signed by Rodgers with the Jets in 2023. It may be possible for the Jets to cut or trade Rodgers, but that would result in heavy dead cap damage for the team, which won only five games in 2024. It is also possible that Rodgers could have already played his last game in the NFL, giving him the option to retire.
All of this uncertainty is certainly not sitting well with Wilson.
How Does This Effect The Green Bay Packers?
As a result of the Packers’ early playoff exit in 2024, this team and fanbase have to accept that the offense needs an adequate wide receiver at No. 1.
A talented receiver room surrounds QB Jordan Love, but it lacks elite talent. In the case of Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks, there is a lot to like.
But Wilson would be a completely different ball game. He has recorded at least 1,100 receiving yards in two of his first three seasons in the league:
- 2022: 1,103
- 2023: 1,042
- 2024: 1,104
There is no secret that Green Bay will be in the market for a wide receiver this off-season. Could 24-year-old Garrett Wilson be their man?
