“A Return To Green Bay Would Be A Natural Outcome”: Green Bay Packers Linked To Bringing Back Defensive Back To Team In 2025

The Green Bay Packers this offseason will be looking to overhaul the cornerback position this offseason. It was one of the weaknesses of this football team this offseason.

Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander (23) tackles Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon (28) during the first quarter of their game Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Eric Stokes will not be re-signed and the Green Bay Packers may also part ways with cornerback Jaire Alexander. Keisean Nixon is another cornerback who also may not be on the roster for the 2025 NFL season. Green Bay will be looking at every angle in how to improve that position for next season.

Pro Football Focus Writer Mason Cameron Thinks the Green Bay Packers Could Bring Back Rasul Douglas Next Season

Rasul Douglas was once on the Packers roster and there is a chance that they could bring him back in 2025. According to Pro Football Focus writer Mason Cameron, he thinks that Rasul Douglas’s best landing spot for next season is the Green Bay Packers. Cameron said:

“The Packers traded Douglas to the Bills in 2023, but after he endured a fair share of struggles in 2024, a return to Green Bay would be a natural outcome this offseason. Douglas produced a 71.0-plus PFF coverage grade in each season with the Packers. With Eric Stokes set to become a free agent and Jaire Alexander having missed the better part of the past two seasons, a reunion with Douglas makes sense. “

Douglas is 29 years old and he will turn 30 on August 29, right before the 2025 NFL season begins. Last season with the Buffalo Bills, he recorded 58 tackles, one forced fumble, zero interceptions, and five pass deflections. If the Green Bay Packers brought him back for next season, he would be an upgrade over Eric Stokes as the number two cornerback.

Rasul Douglas and Jaire Alexander could pair up again, depending on what Green Bay decides to do with Alexander. That will be the multimillion-dollar question of the offseason for this franchise.

Still Need To Find a Number One Corner

For now, Jaire Alexander is the number one cornerback, but he may not be for long. Even if Green Bay brings back Rasul Douglas next season, they still need to find a new number-one cornerback. They will probably find more cornerbacks in the NFL Draft in 2025, trade, or more free agents on the market.

Free agency does not begin until March. However, it is fun to speculate if Rasul Douglas will be back with the Green Bay Packers next season, but there is a chance he could go back to the Buffalo Bills next season if he has a thin market.
