Rumors: Dallas Cowboys Linked to Intriguing Free Agent Running Back

Najee Harris, Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are going to be an intriguing team to watch throughout the upcoming NFL offseason. Jerry Jones has quite a few holes to fill and has already made a head coaching change.

One of the holes that the Cowboys need to fill comes at the running back position.

Rico Dowdle has shown some potential to be a key impact player, but Dallas could use more help. They have now been linked to one intriguing option in the upcoming NFL free agency period.

Dallas Cowboys Linked to Intriguing Free Agent Running Back

Tyler Brooke of The 33rd Team has suggested that the Cowboys could be a potential landing spot for Pittsburgh Steelers free agent running back Najee Harris.

“The Cowboys need a reliable running back who’s been in the league for a while, even if they plan to draft another running back early. Harris has been nothing if not reliable in his NFL career, playing 17 games in all four seasons with Pittsburgh. Harris could serve as a mentor for a top rookie running back while still having a role with a significant workload in 2025.”

Ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys have been connected to Boise State star Ashton Jeanty. Bringing in Harris and drafting Jeanty could make sense for the franchise.

During the 2024 NFL season with the Steelers, Harris ended up carrying the football 263 times for 1,043 yards and six touchdowns. He averaged 4.0 yards per carry.

Harris also caught 36 passes for 283 yards on the season.

All of that being said, Harris could make sense for the Dallas Cowboys depending on his price tag. If the cost makes sense, the Cowboys should pursue him. But, they cannot afford to overpay to get him.

It will be very interesting to see what Dallas ends up doing during the upcoming offseason. They have a lot of work to do to get back into serious contention.
